Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Document Preparation
We are a Debt Relief Agency. We help people file for relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
Bankruptcy Workbook
You will be provided a workbook to take home to complete. Once completed, you will schedule an appointment to return to our office to review the completed workbook. Once reviewed, it will be about 1–2 weeks for you to sign your petition in our office. We will guide you through the entire process.
The court filing fee of $380 may be waived if you qualify for a low income waiver. We can provide you with that blank form on request.
Please note: we CANNOT assist customers who own Real Estate Property and/or Mobile/Motor Homes. We The People can only assist you if it has been 8 years since your last bankruptcy discharge.
Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Filing
Bankruptcy is designed for debtors in financially difficult situations who do not have the ability to pay their existing debts. Over 1 million people file for personal bankruptcy every year, and the most common personal filing is done under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code. We The People provides the legal document assistance to make filing for bankruptcy without an attorney as affordable and stress free as possible. If your situation is fairly simple, this will save you enormous money.
Bankruptcy laws differ state to state; however, every state has laws to protect certain property, such as clothing, household items, money in qualified retirement plans, your car and your house (up to a certain value).
Bankruptcy Petition Preparers
Many people choose to file for bankruptcy "pro se", that is, without a lawyer. A "Bankruptcy Petition Preparer" is a non-attorney who assists people in preparing their bankruptcy documents by providing commercially available general resources and typing all paperwork in accordance with the court's standards and guidelines. Because Bankruptcy Petition Preparers are not lawyers, they cannot provide any legal advice. By law, they are considered to be "debt relief agencies".
Final Order or Discharge
The final order or discharge in Chapter 7 bankruptcy releases the debtor from any personal liability for certain types of debt. This includes, but is not limited to, credit card payments, medical bills and personal loans. Once discharged, the debtor is not legally responsible to pay back those balances, and creditors are prohibited from taking any action to collect them, including legal action and communication.
We Can Help
At We The People, you can take a free "Means Test" to see if you qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy (as opposed to Chapter 13). Once you qualify, you provide us with the information the court will need, and we do the legal document preparation and walk you through the steps of how to file.
